Christine Marie Casal

Christine Marie Casal (PhD) is a Research Associate for FishBase handling data on genetics, fish invasions and abundance. She is mainly responsible for compiling information on these topics and developing tools for predicting species invasions utilizing species tolerances and biological characteristics. She is a member of the IUCN/World Commission on Protected Areas and is active in international discussions and activities in the Invasive Alien Species (CBD, GIASIP, GISIN, etc.) arena. She has several publications and has presented papers on decision-support tool development within FishBase, invasive species biology, and genetics. Christine has also served as convenor, editor of conference proceedings (Ghana, Italy. Portugal and the Philippines) and has reviewed papers for some international and local journals. She is a biologist with an entomology, genetics and environmental science background.
